Loan Sharks, Bad Credit and How to Manage Your Money

We plan to produce leaflet materials, to alert people to the bad deals that are being offered, particularly by doorstep lenders. We are working with Carlisle Credit Union to urge clients to shop around, or resist offers that amount to traps.

We also plan to seek funding to extend the campaign into a public education project.


Migrant Workers

As workers join our local workforce from other countries, particularly form Eastern Europe, the opportunities for local employers to stray from lawful practice grow. The biggest problem is information. Many Polish, Ukrainian and Rumanian workers are vulnerable to exploitation, but have little idea of what rights or protections they may have under English Law.

We plan to produce plain language information in leaflet and poster form that can be translated into Polish, and widely circulated in workplaces, libraries and other public buildings.
